Phoenix Coyotes GM Don Maloney announced Tuesday that the Phoenix Coyotes will host the Chicago Blackhawks in Game 5 of the Western Conference Final on Sunday night.
Maloney also said the Coyotes will wear the new logo, a design that was introduced to the NHL in 2019.
The Coyotes will open the series against the Blackhawks at 7 p.m.
(CT) on Friday in Glendale.
Malones said the logo is a way to bring more energy to the ice and to give the fans the chance to see what the Coyotes can do with the new look.
The Coyotes will play in Glens Falls for the first time since a four-game sweep in the 2014 Stanley Cup Final.
Malone said he believes the team is in a better place than when the logo was introduced, and that the Coyotes are ready for a new challenge.
The team has struggled mightily in recent years, and it’s been difficult to win a Stanley Cup in Glenn Heights.
Maloney said the team will not let the past get in the way of its goals.
Phoenix Coyotes beat Chicago Blackhawks, 3-2, in Game 4, April 16, 2019.
Phoenix and Chicago traded games last season, and Maloney believes this is the best chance the team has to win the Stanley Cup.
Malones said it’s time to turn things around.
Phoenix will host a game on Saturday night, when the Blackhawks host the Anaheim Ducks.
The Blackhawks have a three-game road trip this week, which includes a home game against the St. Louis Blues.
