Phoenix Suns beat Pelicans by a score of 106-102

Phoenix Suns guard Tyler Ulis scored 13 points and 10 rebounds as the Phoenix Suns defeated the New Orleans Pelicans 104-100 on Sunday night. 

Phoenix (6-0) held the Pelicans (3-4) to 33.7 percent shooting from the field and hit 4 of 17 3-pointers.

The Suns shot 44.3 percent in the first half.

New Orleans scored the first 11 points of the second half to take a 54-48 lead. 

Lance Stephenson scored 17 points for the Suns, while rookie Isaiah Thomas had 15 points and eight rebounds. 

The Suns were led by rookie point guard Tyler Lockett, who finished with 16 points. 

New Orleans led by as many as 19 points at one point. 

Tyreke Evans added 16 points for New Orleans, which has dropped four of five. 

Cameron Payne had 13 points for Phoenix. 

“I’m happy to get this win and I’m happy for our team, happy for the organization and we want to go to the NBA Finals,” Payne said.

“We want to be the champion and get back there and compete.

We have to be aggressive.” 

New York Knicks forward Raymond Felton, who had 12 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks, had nine points and four rebounds.

Derrick Rose had eight points and nine rebounds.

 New Orleans scored its first six points of regulation but the Pelicans shot just 17 percent for the rest of the game. 

Trailing 56-46 in the third quarter, Phoenix hit a 3-pointer from the top of the key.

Thomas scored nine points later to give the Suns a 74-69 lead with 2:34 left in the period.

The Pelicans shot 33 percent and missed 10 of their first 13 attempts.

New York scored the next 11 points and held New Orleans to 38 percent shooting. 

James Johnson scored eight points in the second quarter and grabbed a season-high 10 rebounds.

Pelicans guard Tyler Ennis finished with nine points, six rebounds and three blocks. 

Pelicans center Omer Asik had seven points and five rebounds.
