Phoenix schools are closed for the Thanksgiving holiday due to a flu outbreak.
Schools are expected to reopen on Monday and then resume operations on Tuesday, according to officials.
They are also expected to have a new principal and a new head of instruction.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said the number of confirmed flu cases nationwide is down to 672 from 1,858, including a total of 927 deaths.
We’re still getting reports of flu in Phoenix, so we’re continuing to monitor those and we expect to see some additional improvements over the next several days, CDC Director Tom Frieden said on Monday.
Officials said schools will be open to students and staff as usual on Tuesday.
The CDC said flu is the fourth-leading cause of death among children under the age of 5.
